Hannah Podhorzer - Hamsa Flower

Statement

At the foundation of this flower is a Hamsa, an amulet in the shape of an open hand, which is a generalized symbol of numerous traditions. The Hamsa Prayer blesses the owner with fulfillment of the soul with peace. This state of global warming feels like a continual act of violent, of discord -- the opposite of peace. Within this design, the symbolism of the Hamsa, as well as the natural elements of the flower, the Tree of Life, and the sun and moon collectively remind me that peace must originate in the soul and “hands” before it can manifest on the global level.
