Event Description

A Glorious Requiem for Beasts and Souls is the solo exhibition of Atlanta artist Leisa Rich. The show features extraordinary chinoiserie 'tapestries' that have been dyed, free motion machine embroidered, manipulated with heat transfers, and more, to create worlds of wonder reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz, Little Shop of Horrors or Alice in Wonderland. In addition, there will be gigantic butterflies, birds whirling on the wall, and a garden featuring her Humanimals. Be whisked away from the horrors of present day politics and strife into a prettier, lovelier, saccharine-perfect world. Reception is on November 8, from 5-7. There will also be an artist talk and workshops on Friday, Nov. 9. The drive to Demorest is a lovely hour and a bit. Hope to see you there!
